Blayne Shackelford Memorial Scholarship

Matthew “Blayne” Shackelford departed this world and entered heaven on June 21, 2020. Blayne loved life and made the absolute most of his 17 years on Earth.  He was a naturally bright student and making good grades always came easy. Blayne was also a natural leader. He took his place in leadership as a silent leader, for he believed his daily walk and relationship with Christ served as the best example. Wherever you found Blayne you found happiness, you heard laughter, as he generously shared his light. In eighth grade, Blayne was rightfully voted “Best All Around” and this award embodies Blayne. Blayne was the “Best All Around” because Blayne had the innate humbleness and unassuming gift to make everyone feel special. Blayne was not only academically talented he was an exceptional outdoorsman. Since school came natural to Blayne he spent most of his free time on  excelling on the golf course, relaxing as he was catching fish on any body of water he could find, or in the woods hunting. 

Blayne’s hard work and dedication to his academics came with graduating Summa Cum Laude from Baldwin County High School on June 1, 2020. Upon graduation he had also completed 7 dual enrollment college courses and was headed to The University of Alabama on scholarship to study Electrical Engineering. 

Although Blayne did not get to attend UA, he is now at the most beautiful and glorious college you can imagine. He traded Saturdays at Bryant Denny Stadium, for dancing with forever friends down the streets of gold. Matthew Blayne Shacklelford is home and we will rejoice because our beautiful, Blayne is in heaven.
